How it Works
The 36th Annual Hunger Walk
Saturday, September 22nd!
The Hunger Walk is the HENDERSON COUNTY HUNGER COALITION'S annual event to raise funding for the 10 agencies we support, supplying food and meals in our county. The Coalition's mission is providing emergency food to needy families and individuals facing crisis situations in Henderson County.
YOU can participate in the Hunger Walk with your religious group, club, business, fraternal organization, neighborhood/community or school organization—or you can join in this event as an individual or family. It's as simple as 1-2-3:
SIGN UP AND GET YOUR HUNGER WALK DONATIONS ENVELOPE. Envelopes, instructions and necessary materials will be available starting August 1st from the receptionist desk at Mud Creek Baptist Church (403 Rutledge Drive, Hendersonville) or from volunteer team captains/coordinators in your congregation, organization or neighborhood. Watch the Times News for information or call the contacts at the bottom of this page.
COLLECT PLEDGES AND DONATIONS FOR YOUR 5 TO 10 MILE WALK OR the1 TO 2 MILE "FUN WALK" during the weeks prior to September 22. Spread the news of your participation in this wonderful event to congregation or club members, relatives, neighbors, friends, school mates etc.. Consider holding a fund-raising event of your own in support of your Walk or Team, and let us know what you are planning!
BRING YOUR COLLECTED DONATIONS TO THE SEPTEMBER WALK, or deliver them by October 8, 2018 to your Team Captain or the reception desk collection point at Mud Creek Baptist Church.
Registration will begin at 8:00 am with the Walk beginning at 8:30. You will be joining with hundreds of other Hunger Walk supporters for a fun-filled event starting at Jackson Park Shelter #1 and winding through Hendersonville neighborhoods, back to the Park. The 1-2 mile “Fun Walk” is entirely within Jackson Park. Commemorative t-shirts (first 300 walkers), plus food and drinks for participants will be provided.
The 2018 Hunger Coalition goal is $100,000 to fund grants in 2019 for 10 agencies in our county providing emergency assistance to hungry families.
